What is PIA? The Paddlesports
Industry Association is the largest trade association of paddlesports companies
in the world. PIA represents paddlesports companies that rent boats, outfit
and/or guide trips, and retail and manufacture equipment and accessories.
Are PIA members reputable companies?
The members of PIA are among the best paddlesports businesses in the
country. If you are going to use an outfitter or rental business for your
paddlesports adventure, or a specialty retailer to purchase your new boat, ask
if the business is a PIA member.

Is paddling safe? Paddling is a
fun recreational activity and healthy outdoor exercise. Care must always be
taken near the water though. Always wear your personal flotation device (PFD or
life jacket) when paddling. Just about everyone can paddle, and millions of
people paddle each year. If you are concerned about the physical demands of
paddling, check with your physician. And never paddle in conditions that are
not suitable for your experience.
